What's the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?

Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them to heat through a chemical reaction in the skin. Mineral sunscreens like this one sit on top of the skin and physically deflect UV rays before they penetrate. Mineral filters are generally better tolerated by sensitive skin and are free from the chemical filters (oxybenzone, octinoxate) linked to hormone disruption and coral reef damage.

Can I wear this over my skincare and under makeup?
